Meet Randy (and Jeb)
Randy's career as a speaker and trainer followed his time as a law enforcement officer, EMT, and later as a crisis and trauma counselor. For eight years, Randy served as an on-scene crisis counselor with the Austin (TX) Police Department, responding to crimes and critical incidents. Randy has assisted victims of violent crime, accidents and disasters, and supported law enforcement officers and other first responders who had been exposed to traumatic events.
In addition to serving a local clientele, Randy has responded to national incidents, including the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995, and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. Within these deployments, Randy provided crisis counseling, primarily for first responders, crisis chaplains and others.
Randy's clientele has included the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Sheriffs Association (NSA), the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA), the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), and scores of law enforcement agencies, associations and training academies. He has provided training, course development, professional consultation, and other services throughout the US to agencies, organizations, businesses and non-profits. His work has taken him to more than thirty states, some of those on numerous occasions.
Randy is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas School of Allied Health Science. He is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He holds numerous certificates with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and has served as an approved instructor in the Foundation’s former Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support course, now entitled Assisting Individuals in Crisis.
Randy volunteers with a number of organizations, and serves as a chaplain with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) Rapid Response Team. He has completed additional training through the BGEA Law Enforcement Chaplains Training Program (LECTP). He serves as the lead for the First Aid and Safety Team (FAST) with Waypoint Church near Richmond, Texas.
Randy is in the process of developing The Anchor Forge Ministries, and hopes to see the effort operational by the fall of 2026.
